Please join us at our first annual “Pink Envelope Bridal, Mom and Baby Shower Showcase” on May 4, 2008 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  This open house event in support of Brides Against Breast Cancer (bridesagainstbreastcancer.org) will be held at the beautiful William & Mary Alumni House in Williamsburg, Virginia and will feature:

·         Elegant tabletop displays in five categories: Bridal Shower, Baby Shower, Mother-Daughter Tea, Wedding Reception and Children’s Birthday; pick up tips and see the newest trends in tabletop fashion for special events!

·         Vendor Fair including exhibits and demonstrations by photographers, caterers, travel consultants, special event hair & makeup, invitation and favor resources and more!

·         Refreshments, live entertainment and vendor giveaways

·         Where to Host Your Next Party Exhibit with easy access to the best venues in Hampton Roads and beyond.

·         Best Favor Competition: a free chance for you to show off YOUR creativity and earn prizes and bragging rights in multiple categories.  Can’t attend?  No worries!  You can enter just by sending us your photo and contact information.  Guests at the event will vote for the winners and prizes will be forwarded after the event!

·         Sponsor a place setting at one of our showcase tables in support or memory of someone you know who has faced or is facing breast cancer.

·         Pre-paid, pre-registered guests will take home an elegant takeaway bag.

·         All guests will be eligible to enter door prize drawings.

100% of the admissions and 100% of the place setting sponsorships will be donated to Brides Against Breast Cancer, an organization that grants wishes to women and families suffering the devastation caused by Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer.

The Bridal, Mom and Baby Shower Showcase is hosted by Williamsburg Wedding Design and Co-Sponsored by the William & Mary Alumni Association.

Do Us a "Favor" - It's Time to Brag!

This could be your proverbial 15 minutes folks!  Yes, it's the first annual Best Favor competition in conjunction with our Pink Envelope Project "Bridal, Mom & Baby Shower Showcase!" (hosted by Williamsburg Wedding Design and sponsored by the William & Mary Alumni Association) in support of Brides Against Breast Cancer.  And we're upping the ante.  Win the Grand Prize "Overall Best Favor" category (selected from the winners of each favor category) and you will win a very shiny, very awesome grand prize...to be revealed at the end of this week! 

It's SO easy and it's SO free, although we encourage you to buy a ticket for $5 whether you can attend or not, as admissions are being donated to the Pink Envelope Project.  For complete details, visit our competition webpage, and start sending your photos (or samples).  Winners will be selected at our May 4 event (an absolute DON'T MISS).  We'll share them right here at weddlady.com!

Williamsburg Wedding Design and The Pink Envelope Project

Williamsburg Wedding Design will host the first annual "Bridal, Mom & Baby Shower" in support of the Brides Against Breast Cancer "Pink Envelope Project".

This totally unique event is designed to showcase ideas and inspirations for anyone planning a bridal shower, baby shower, mom appreciation event (perfect timing for Mother's Day!) and yes, even a wedding reception.  Guests will enjoy refreshments and entertainment while they view themed tabletop displays, collect local information on venues that host events, talk to professional vendors about upcoming parties, view stationery samples, vote and compete in the "Best Favor Competition", and pick up tons of helpful hints and suggestions for planning the best showers and receptions ever.  Pre-paid, pre-registered guests will take home an elegant takeaway gift bag.

It's time to turn those 3 days you spent tying ribbons into a prize and bragging rights!  The competition is open to anyone (no ticket purchase required - but all admissions are being donated to the Brides Against Breast Cancer Pink Envelope Project...so consider buying one anyway!), but a ticket is required to attend the event and to vote for the winners.

Bling and the Baby Blog

In keeping with the current baby boom trend among our brides, vendors (yes vendors!) and colleagues, we've updated Babies in the 'Burg with a stunning and thoughtful mom gift.  It would even make a nice Mother's (of the bride or of the groom maybe???) Day Gift.  (Note to MY mom: don't get any ideas!).

Williamsburg Baby Boom!

I don't know what's in the water, but Williamsburg seems to be experiencing a baby boom of dramatic proportions.  Three women I know personally are due (or have just had babies) within the last week of February and the third week of March. 

If you know anything about this town, you know that the major populations have historically been affluent retirees, transient tourists, seasonal college students and a respectable, small local crowd.  These segments of local society have been joined, over the last several years, by many more families moving from all directions.  The "kid crowd" has grown dramatically, and services for this crowd, limited in the past, have started cropping up all over the geographically expanding town.

I have almost-4-year-old twins myself, and more friends and colleagues with toddler and infant children than I know what to do with (play dates anyone?). 

Finally, as a wedding coordinator I am the frequent recipient of my favorite kind of mail: birth announcements from past clients! 

Drawing on the energy of all of these little people "around" me both literally and by association, I have started a blog for Williamsburg Moms.  It currently resides at weddlady.typepad.com/babies_in_the_burg.  It will eventually get it's own legitimate web address.  In the meantime, lucky blog readers, you are my guinea pigs of sorts.  Check out the developing site, and let me know what you think should be included.  Be adventurous!  Subscribe to the feed and inspire regular debate through comments.  Or submit a guest article - the more voices the merrier.
