Sweet Fall Candy Buffet

I was delighted to receive an email from Stephanie, a mother-of-the-bride who shared the candy buffet photo from her daughter's recent wedding. Stephanie was inspired by our popular "Ultimate Fall Candy Buffet". She put a lot of work into her beautiful display and gave me permission to share it here on The World According to Weddlady:

 

Stephanie mentioned that she purchased most of the containers at flea markets and yard sales. She purchased the candy sticks for 10-cents each at Cracker Barrel and picked up most of the rest of the candy at Wal-Mart. She purchased the clear candy bags at Michael's. She estimates that this candy buffet, which served 200 guests cost her approximately $250 - that is an incredible price for a buffet for that number of guests. She put a ton of hard work in herself to achieve that budget and I think it's a beautiful display.

Easy and Sophisticated DIY Escort Cards

One of our most popular posts in the past five years has been our "Ultimate Fall Candy Buffet" feature from Kerri & Chico's wedding. One of the pretty touches at this wedding was also a super-simple DIY project that you could use at any wedding: easy and sophisticated DIY Escort Cards.

While  a favorite option for escort and place cards is to have them hand-written by a calligrapher, there are times when calligraphy is either inaccessible and impossible due to incomplete guest lists or a high incidence of super-late rsvps. There are print-your-own cards that come on a full sheet of perforated paper, however, unless they are exceptionally high quality or are cut properly (if you use them, I recommend cutting them along the perforation with a paper cutter), they have tell-tale "print-your-own" ridged edges. They look a lot like "I printed them at home" business cards and don't lend a polished look to your wedding.

Instead of the full sheet, I recommend ordering folded cards from . They are available in a bunch of colors, and their quality is very nice. They arrive unfolded and plain, and when folded look like this (these are Shimmer Chocolate Place Cards):

 

You'll want to order a contrasting, light 8"x10" paper stock as well. For the pictured place cards, I used a slightly heavy weight ivory paper that ran through my printer easily. Create a table in a program like Microsoft Word so all of your inserts will be exactly the same size.  Choose a coordinating font color. Insert the names of your guests with their table number in the fields on your table, double check them for spelling and print out the full pages of names.

Using a paper cutter, cut the names out along the table lines so all of the name cards are the same size. Affix the light colored tags to the folded place cards with a glue stick or double-stick tape and you'll have created sophisticated, and too-easy escort cards for your own wedding!
